The garage door opener may be making clicking noises as a result of the security lock. This wear could damage the roller surface causing them not to roll correctly. Another irritating noise you might be hearing when opening and closing the door is a clinking sound.

This is an easy fix. There are a couple of reasons why your door would be making this sound. On some systems the garage door opener installed on the wall will override commands from the remote control opener and the system must be unlocked from the wall pad. The spring coils have rusted and are rubbing together.
